Abstract The Myers family counted among its members William Raiford Myers (fl. 1852-1854) of Charlotte, N.C., who owned a cotton plantation in Cass County, Tex. The collection contains the papers of the Myers family including three letters, 1852-1854, to William Raiford Myers, Charlotte, N.C., from the overseer on his cotton plantation in Cass County, Tex., discussing crops, land claims, and other matters; and other items, including manuscript music and lyrics to "Old North State," words by William Gaston, music by Mary J. Lucas, annotated by the latter in 1879.
