Series 1. Papers Pertaining to Land Fraud Cases, 1784-1809 and undated.
Papers related to the legislative investigation and trial of land fraud cases involving state officials James Glasgow, Secretary of State; John Armstrong, Entry Taker for Western Lands; Martin Armstrong, Surveyor for Western Lands; and other lesser figures. There are a number of letters and other items written by John Armstrong, messages of various governors to the legislature, messages exchanged between the two houses of the legisltature, committee reports, land surveys, and materials related to the trials including summonses, petitions, and a commission of judges John Louis Taylor, Samuel Johnston, Spruce Macay, and John Haywood to try the fraud cases in a special court.

Miscellaneous papers of the North Carolina state legislature including correspondence, resolutions, reports, petitions, and a list of counties and county seats. Some topics include the establishment of a penitentiary, railroads, state bank, and lottery.
