Henry Middleton Parker (fl. 1848-1851) of Grahamville, S.C., was educated at Georgetown Academy, Washington, D.C., and Columbia Theological Seminary, Columbia, S.C. His son was also named Henry Middleton Parker (fl. 1873).

The collection includes the notebook of Henry Middleton Parker (fl. 1848-1851), kept while he was a student at Georgetown Academy, Washington, D.C., 1848-1849, and studying for the Presbyterian ministry at Columbia Theological College, Columbia, S.C., 1850-1851, describing his studies, reading, religious thoughts, and personal expenses; and the diary of his son of the same name, kept while he was a seminary student in 1873, describing some personal experiences, especially religious thoughts, and including notes on sermons.
