Silva Wilson Partridge of San Francisco, Calif., collected genealogical data on William Paisley (born 1700) and his descendants. Paisley emigrated from Ireland to North Carolina in 1765. His children included sons William (1748-1822), John, and Robert (1739-1828) and daughters Jane, Margaret, and Mary.

Scope and Content
The collection includes correspondence and papers, 1955-1972, of Silva Wilson Partridge concerning the descendants of William Paisley. Correspondence is primarily between Partridge and other Paisley descendants. There are also notebooks apparently compiled by Partridge while conducting genealogical research for others. Family lines represented in the notebooks include Howell, Offutt, Duke, Haygood, Morgan, Pringle, Coolidge, Loomis, Crawford, Negley, Scudder, Smith, Wear, Carrick, McClellan, Walker, Vance, Ferando, Rayburn, Allensworth, and Hogeboom.
