Scope and Content
The collection includes business papers, primarily of the 1840s, of Anselom Reed, chiefly deeds and other papers pertaining to Piedmont North Carolina lands. There are also bills from merchants, and correspondence, 1866-1874, about lands in Tennessee and Arkansas. There are a few items related to the sale of slaves, and a family Bible. Additional persons mentioned in the papers include John Winchester, John Moore, John J. Reed, James T. Morehead, J. M. Morehead, Wiliam Isley, Pinckney Reed, and J. D. Reed.
