Biographical Information
Composer Thomas Nelson Rice was born 3 February 1933 in Washington, D.C. He received a B.A. from Catholic University and an M.A. in music from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Rice composed more than 60 works, some by commission, including concertos, orchestral compositions, and chamber music. Most of Rice's works were created while he lived in Virginia, where he also was music director for the Virginia Beach School System until his retirement in 1988. Rice died in 2000.
