Information
Benjamin Robinson (1775-1857) was born in Bennington, Vt., and settled in Fayetteville, N.C., about 1805. He was a physician and surgeon of the upper Cape Fear region. His son, Benjamin West Robinson, was also a physician.

Scope and Content
The collection includes thirteen ledgers, eleven daybooks, and two other volumes of Benjamin Robinson (1775-1857) and Benjamin West Robinson, and also of Hall and Robinson, a partnership of T. C. Hall and Benjamin Robinson. These volumes contain records of accounts with residents of Cumberland County, N.C., and nearby areas for medical advice, professional visits, and medicine dispensed. Some records give details of address, occupation, or race of patient, and nature of complaints and drugs prescribed, but most do not. Most of the volumes contain a few miscellaneous records in addition to the contents listed.
