The collection includes a bill of sale for a female slave named Emeline or Eveline from Lewis Brown of Missouri to William Page Saunders of New Orleans, 11 May 1854, and a letter, 26 April 1856, from F.L. Claiborne to Saunders. In the letter, Claiborne, who had purchased the slave in turn from Saunders, stated that she had a bad cough and a diseased leg, but that he intended to keep her and try to cure her. |
