Abstract:  Seligman and Company was a timber firm apparently
based in Tamaqua, Penn., which was active in the lumber industry
in Pasquotank County, N.C.  The company appears to have been
affiliated with the Clear Creek Coal Company, Inc., which also
operated out of Tamaqua.
          Records, 1907-1930, of the Seligman and Company
timbering operations in Pasquotank County, N.C., as documented in
four account books that show expenses and receipts.  The fourth
volume also includes records relating to the Clear Creek Coal
Company, Inc.

                            DESCRIPTION

          Seligman and Company was a timber firm apparently based
in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania.  The four volumes in this collection
contain records of Seligman and Company's lumbering activities,
1907-1930, in Pasquotank County, North Carolina.  Seligman and
Company appears to have been affiliated with the Clear Creek Coal
Company, Inc., which also operated out of Tamaqua.  Some of the
entries in Volume 4 relate to this company.  It is not clear
whether or not Clear Creek Coal Company, Inc., also operated in
Pasquotank County.

Volume S-11907-1910, 472 pages.  Account book showing timber
logged from various tracts of land in Pasquotank County and cash
paid for labor and goods.

Volume 2  1924, about 300 pages.  Account book showing shipping
records and logging accounts.

Volume S-31928, 63 double pages.  Monthly records of cash paid to
various individuals and companies for salaries, supplies, and
hired services.

Volume 4  1926-1930, about 200 pages.  Account book showing
expenses and receipts for Seligman and Company and for the Clear
Creek Coal Company, Inc.
