Leah Reemar Simpson (born 1798) and Rebecca Calhoun Simpson (born 1800) were sisters and residents of Pensacola, Fla.

The collection includes chiefly descriptive letters received by two sisters (Leah Reemar Simpson, b. 1798 and Rebecca Calhoun Simpson, b. 1800) of Pensacola, Fla., from friends and male relatives who traveled widely in the South and to New York City, 1830s-1870s. Topics include social and family life in Pensacola and elsewhere; general conditions in New York; news from German immigrants who were their friends, 1830s and 1840s; the railroad at Pensacola, 1853; and conditions in Florida, 1863. The items before 1834 and after 1865 are Pickens and Simpson family papers.
