| Abstract | Lucy Elliot Spigel grew up in Norfolk, Va., and, during World War II, was involved with a number of United States Navy servicemen stationed at the Norfolk naval base. The scrapbook contains items, 1942-1946, documenting the life of a young southern woman on the home front during World War II. Items chiefly relate to her relationships with servicemen stationed in Norfolk, Va. Included are greeting cards, postcards, a few letters, clippings, fragments of envelopes with dates and names, invitations, foreign currency, certificates, souvenirs, a war record of the U.S.S.
