                       ELIJAH VESTER PAPERS

Abstract: Elijah Vester (fl. 1853-1854) of Nash County,
N.C. Chiefly miscellaneous promissory notes and receipts
relating to business dealings of Vester in Nash County,
N.C., along with five letters sent to Vester by his
Tennessee relations.  The letters discuss agricultural
crops and prices, social mobility, and the prospects for
marriage and plans for immigration to Texas of William
Vester (relationship to Elijah Vester unknown).  There is
also a letter, dated 1 September 1838, from Vester's
father, concerning planting in Hinds County, Miss.  Two
fragments are also included.
