Order book with orders issued under Washington's name to various officers and commands from the headquarters of the Continental Army, June- October 1777, chiefly at Morristown, N.J. (microfilm and photoprints; original returned to private owner in 1942); and original letter, 5 April 1779, from Washington to Thomas Burke (1747 (circa)-1783), stating his position in regard to a state bounty for soldiers. Also included are photoprints or facsimiles (locations of originals unknown) of a notice discharging a soldier from "the Virginia Regiment," 1757, signed by Washington; a letter, 1777, from Washington to George Baylor; an English translation of a contract, 1789, between Washington's agent and Washington's German gardener; and a letter, 1798, from Washington to the trustees of Washington Academy.
