REMOTE DUPLICATION REQUESTS
The Manuscripts Department will create reproductions of unrestricted manuscript materials for patrons unable to travel to our repository in accordance with the terms and limitations described in our duplication policies as well as conditions presented below:
- All remote duplication requests must be submitted in writing. Verbal requests will not be accepted. Public Services can be contacted at:
- You must identify as precisely as possible the particular document or documents that you would like to have duplicated. At a minimum, your description must include the name and number of the collection that contains the item you wish to have duplicated along with more specific information such as a folder or volume number or the date and correspondents involved.
- The Public Services staff will use the information that you have provided to page through a section of a collection in an attempt to locate a requested item. Please note, staff will not "read" collections searching for relevant materials.
- Upon locating a requested document, Public Services will begin the duplication process by emailing you a reader registration agreement and a cost quotation.
- All patrons, including those who access our collections from a distance, must complete, sign, and submit a reader registration agreement. This agreement describes the limitations and restrictions that govern your use of the reproductions that we are providing. It also informs you of your obligations and duties in light of the provisions of United States copyright laws and statutes.
- The Department requires payment of the cost quotation in advance of any reproduction work.
- Duplication requests are placed in a queue and filled in the order that payment is received.
- The Department does not accept "Rush Orders" and is unable to offer same-day duplication service.
- The Department reserves the right to refuse or to limit a duplication request.
