From the phonograph trade journal Talking Machine World, June, 1924. The
ad announced Okeh’s discovery of the “mountaineers” Fiddlin’ John Carson
and Henry Whitter, and praised their “Old Time Pieces” and “Hill Country
Music.” The ad is significant for its portrayal of Carson and Whitter
as two dressed-up country men, indicating no stereotyped costume for country
music artists in 1924.
