DONATIONS/SUPPORT

The Southern Folklife Collection has been built primarily from gifts of collections. Individuals interested in donating materials to the SFC are encouraged to contact Steve Weiss at smweiss@email.unc.edu or by telephone at 919-962-1345.

The SFC collects recordings, photographs, posters, periodicals, ephemera, and manuscript materials relating to all forms of southern vernacular music and oral traditions. The SFC is especially rich in materials documenting the emergence of old-time, country-western, hillbilly, bluegrass, blues, gospel, Cajun and zydeco musics. There is also extensive documentation of the folk revival movement.

Financial support to sustain the work of the SFC is also welcome. If you are interested in making such a gift, you may reach us by telephone at 919-962-1345, in person, or by mail (Southern Folklife Collection, UNC-Chapel Hill, PO Box 309 Chapel Hill, NC 27514-0309). You may also contact the Library Development Office at 919-843-5660.
