     Prior to 1901 and the development of the card catalog
system, the Library's holdings were catalogued in registers.  The
registers give the author, title, and other bibliographic
information as well as the location (by alcove and shelf).  These
records consist of two volumes:

     Volume 1: Catalog of the University Library, n.d.

     Volume 2: Catalog of the University Library, Works of
          Fiction and Poetry, 1883 (?)
