INTRODUCTION
These records of the Friends of the Library include
correspondence, financial records, and reports of the annual
meetings of the organization. The Friends of the Library was
founded in May 1932 and has been in continuous operation since
that date. It was organized by Louis Round Wilson, University
Librarian, to be an agent for the development of the Library’s
collections. Membership is open to all who pay nominal annual
dues. Honorary life-time memberships are granted to donors who
have made significant contributions to the Library, either by
providing financial support for its development, or by the gift
of books, manuscripts, or other library materials. For
additional information about the Friends of the Library, see the
Louis Round Wilson Papers (#3274) in the Southern Historical
Collection.
