The Committee's primary function, as stated in its charge, was to "serve as a coordinating body for training and development activities of all sorts in the library system"-- excluding the orientation program for new employees, assistance to individuals using microcomputers, and training in computer searches. In addition, it was to be used as a means for identifying unmet training and development needs of staff members and for training staff in supervisory, managerial and other skills. The University Librarian appoints a Chair to head the Committee.
