ACADEMIC AFFAIRS RECORD GROUPS
The Division of Academic Affairs was established in 1954 and included all of the academic units in the University exclusive of Health Affairs and the Graduate School. The Library, along with various centers and institutes, was also part of the division.
The division's chief administrative officer initially had the title Chairman and, subsequently, Dean of the Faculty, Vice Chancellor of the University, Provost, Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Provost, and currently, Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost. Until 1997, there was a parallel position that had administrative oversight of the academic units in the Division of Health Affairs as well as the health-related centers and institutes. This position, known for most of its duration as the Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs, was eliminated in 1997, and the Provost assumed oversight of academic units in both the Division of Academic Affairs and the Division of Health Affairs.
The record groups listed below belong to the original Division of Academic Affairs. See also: Academic Affairs Library; Graduate School; Health Affairs.
