The Academic Affairs Library is one of the three separately administered libraries at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The others are the Health Sciences Library and the Law Library. The University Librarian, who heads the Academic Affairs Library, also serves as the Associate Provost for Libraries and is responsible for coordinating the budget requests of the three libraries.
The Academic Affairs Library includes the special collections, the Undergraduate Library, and numerous departmental libraries in addition to the main library. It is the successor to the University's first library, established in 1795.
