• Office of the University Librarian Records (#40047)

The Library Staff Development Committee was created in 1981 under the administration of University Librarian James Govan. The committee's primary function, as stated in its charge, was to "serve as a coordinating body for training and development activities of all sorts in the library system"--excluding the orientation program for new employees, assistance to individuals using microcomputers, and training in computer searches. In addition, it was to be used as a means for identifying unmet training and development needs of staff members and for training staff in supervisory, managerial and other skills. The University Librarian appoints a chair to head the committee.

Records include the Staff Development Committee's charge, correspondence, minutes of meetings, membership lists, and publicity for its programs.
