Abstract The Beta Chapter of Alpha Epsilon Delta, the national pre-medical fraternity, was established at the University of North Carolina on 30 March 1936. The chapter's goals were to foster the scholastic and social life of prospective medical students. The chapter organized lectures and seminars throughout the academic year. The major event was the annual new members' banquet. Records consist of historical materials collected by and recollections of Dr. Joseph F. Patterson, who served as chapter president in 1937. The historical materials include clippings, photographs, and lists of members, 1936-1939. The recollections are found in a typescript of Patterson's talk at the new members' banquet in November 1969.
