| Abstract | The Residence Hall Association (RHA) of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill was chartered in 1968 and became active in 1971. Its membership consisted of all students living in campus dormitories and other university-recognized housing. Its purpose was to bring to light the concerns of those students and to enhance their residential experience. As of 2011, the association remained active and was one of the largest student-run organizations at the university. The records of the Residence Hall Association consist largely of meeting minutes and agendas, correspondence, constitutions, and training manuals. In addition, there are files related to RHA elections, files on various issues and policies affecting students in residence halls, newsletters and newspaper clippings, and photographs and slides. The records date chiefly from 1971 to 1996, but there are scattered materials to 1998 and a 1959 scrapbook from the Men's Interdormitory Council (IDC). |
