ABOUT RECORDS MANAGEMENT SERVICES

Records Management Services at the University of North Carolina assists university offices and departments in managing records from their creation to their eventual disposal or preservation.

Records Management Services has existed as a part of University Archives since 2002. The scheduling of records began as early as 1985 and a formal records management program was instituted in 1991 with a grant from the National Historical and Public Records Commission. Initially, the record management program was part of the Office of the Provost, but in late 2001, the position of University Records Manager was transferred to the University Archives.

The mission of Records Management Services at the University of North Carolina is threefold:
