DEVELOPING A RECORDS SCHEDULE
A retention and disposition schedule is a document that lists all the series in your office. Your schedule helps you decide which records to keep, how long to keep them, and when to transfer them to the archives or to dispose of them. It is important to remember that your records cannot be destroyed unless you have a records retention and disposition schedule that has been developed by University Archives and Records Service and approved by the State. The records liaison in your office should be able to provide you with a copy of your schedule and aid in its interpretation. If you do not have a records liaison and cannot locate a copy of your schedule, please contact the University Records Manager at 962-6402.
Follow the instructions in Getting Started to begin the scheduling process. Then fill out a Step One Form and send it to the University Records Manager at CB #3926. Other forms are available on the Forms and Handouts page.
