Phil is the chief administrator of the Music Library and is responsible for the development of the Music Library collections. He is also an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Music. A graduate of the University of Tennessee, with a B.M. in Music History and an M.S.L.S. in Library and Information Science, he also holds an M.A. in Music History from SUNY-Binghamton and has studied Anthropology and Ethnomusicology at Brown University. He received a Ph.D. in Ethnomusicology at the University of Maryland in 1999.
Diane is the primary reference librarian for the Music Library. She is available for individual and class orientation and instruction. She assists with the development of the library's collections. A graduate of the University of California at Davis, with a B.A. in Music, Diane also holds an M.A. in Music History and Literature from Boston University, and an M.L.S. from the University of Rhode Island.
Shaw oversees the daily operations of the Circulation Desk, including course reserves and supervising student assistants. He handles overdue notices, recalls, holds and carrel assignments. Shaw is a graduate of Wake Forest University, with a B.A. in Music.
Carrie supervises the operations of the Music Library Sunday through Thursday evenings. She acts as acquisitions assistant and processes audio-visual materials for cataloging. Carrie earned a B.M. in Music History from Western Michigan University and an M.A. in Musicology from UNC-Chapel Hill.
Jill oversees all cataloging procedures and catalogs scores, sound and video recordings, and music microforms. Jill is a graduate of the University of Illinois; she holds a Master of Musical Arts from Yale University (flute performance), and an M.L.S. from UNC-Greensboro.
Michael is responsible for receiving and processing all serial titles and assists with special projects. He also catalogs for the Music Library. He holds B.M. and M.M. degrees from Rutgers University and taught instrumental music for ten years in the New Jersey public schools. He is co-author of the book Rat Race Blues: The Musical Life of Gigi Gryce. He is pursuing his M.S.L.S. degree at the School of Information and Library Science and is a Carolina Academic Libraries Associate. |
