Philip Vandermeer, Music Librarian

Phil is the chief administrator of the Music Library and is responsible for the development of the Music Library collections. He is also an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Music. A graduate of the University of Tennessee, with a B.M. in Music History and an M.S.L.S. in Library and Information Science, he also holds an M.A. in Music History from SUNY-Binghamton and has studied Anthropology and Ethnomusicology at Brown University. He received a Ph.D. in Ethnomusicology at the University of Maryland in 1999.

Diane Steinhaus, Public Services Librarian

Diane is the primary reference librarian for the Music Library. She is available for individual and class orientation and instruction. She assists with the development of the library's collections. A graduate of the University of California at Davis, with a B.A. in Music, Diane also holds an M.A. in Music History and Literature from Boston University, and an M.L.S. from the University of Rhode Island.

Bradshaw Lentz, Circulation Supervisor

Shaw oversees the daily operations of the Circulation Desk, including course reserves and supervising student assistants. He handles overdue notices, recalls, holds and carrel assignments. Shaw is a graduate of Wake Forest University, with a B.A. in Music.

Carrie Monette, Evening Supervisor

Carrie supervises all the operations of the Music Library Sunday through Thursday evenings. As acquisitions assistant, she handles the orders for all scores, CDs and DVDs. Carrie earned a B.Mus from Western Michigan University, an M.A. in Musicology from UNC-Chapel Hill and has done extensive work in piano/fortepiano performance at UNC and Duke University.

Jill Shires, Music Cataloger

Jill oversees all cataloging procedures and catalogs scores, sound recordings, and music microforms. Jill is a graduate of the University of Illinois; she holds a Master of Musical Arts from Yale University (flute performance), and an M.L.S. from UNC-Greensboro.

Terry Patrickis, Music Cataloging Assistant

Terry catalogs scores and sound recordings, and prepares scores for commercial binding. Terry earned a B.Mus from the University of Alabama and a Master of Music in flute performance from UNC-Chapel Hill.

Peter Shirts, Carolina Academic Library Associate (CALA)

Peter is responsible for receiving and processing all serial titles and new music scores. He also assists with special projects. He holds a B.M. from Brigham Young University in Music Education and a M.A. in Musicology from the University of Michigan, and is currently pursuing a M.S.L.S. at the School of Information and Library Science.
