William Kerr Scott button, 1948. |
Alamance County farmer William Kerr Scott held offices ranging from farm agent to state commissioner of agriculture before running for governor in 1948. Scott's "Go Forward" program expanded services to the aged, handicapped, and other dependents. This program also expanded facilities at public schools, and his "farm-to-market" initiative created a secondary road system that made it easier for farmers to transport their goods to market. |
