The Alexander County courthouse at Taylorsville, ca. 1940. Designed and built by the B.F. Smith Fireproof Construction Company in 1902, this courthouse resembles others built by the same company in the counties of Sampson, Tyrrell, Onslow, and Dare. A time capsule was placed in its cornerstone. The building burned in August 1967.
