COLLECTION P1: NORTH CAROLINA COUNTY COLLECTION

Scotland County

first Scotland County courthouse

The first Scotland County courthouse in Laurinburg, ca. 1938. It was constructed in 1901 by the Charlotte firm of Wheeler, McMichael, and Company, who also designed it. The building, which represents an unusual and briefly popular combination of Neo-Classical detail and Second Empire mansard domes, was demolished in 1964.
