The Portrait Collection includes more than 9,000 images documenting more than 3,500 persons, most of whom have a connection to the state of North Carolina. The collection is divided into three series or groupings (P2, FP2, and FFP2) based upon the physical dimensions of the prints and photographs. Within each series, the folders are arranged by surname and forename.
Note: each folder may contain one or more images. Photographs for particular individuals may also be found in collections other than the Portrait Collection. Descriptions of these other collections may be consulted, and the North Carolina Collection Photographic Archivist may be contacted for additional reference assistance.
Search Tip: the list of names may be scrolled in the browser window; use the "Find" command available with most web browsers to conduct word searches.
