Biographical Sketch: John Wallace Winborne (1884-1966), was a graduate of the University of North Carolina and a Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court. Winborne was a native of Chowan County, but spent most of his life at Marion in McDowell County.

Collection Description: The collection includes photographs of Winborne's student days at Horner Military Academy in Oxford, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and at Bingham School in Asheville. The collection also contains group or composite photographs of the North Carolina Supreme Court for the years 1937, 1949, 1950, 1951, 1952, 1953, 1954, 1956, 1959, and 1961, and several that are not dated. Included in the collection is an autographed photograph of North Carolina Governor J. Melville Broughton, and a photographic album containing portraits of the UNC senior class of 1906.

A 1924 photograph of the UNC freshmen class is filed in the FFFP4 Series.
