The Executive Committee of the University’s Board of Trustees established a medical school, which was recommended by President Kemp Plummer Battle. Dr. Thomas W. Harris was the first dean, serving from 1879 to 1885. After Harris resigned to begin a private practice, the school closed. In 1890, it reopened under different leadership.Top |
