Frederick H. Koch, founder and promoter of the Carolina Playmakers, was named as Kenan Professor of Dramatic Literature. Born in Covington, Kentucky, Koch grew up in Illinois. He graduated from Ohio Wesleyan and Harvard University and later taught English at the University of North Dakota from 1905 to 1918. While in Chapel Hill, Koch instructed and influenced many University graduates including Thomas Wolfe, Paul Green, Betty Smith, and Jonathan Daniels.Top |
