The organizational meeting of the Committee for Open Business (COB) was held at the St. Joseph A. M. E. Church on Chapel Hill's West Rosemary Street. Organized by University student Pat Cusick, who also chaired the Student Peach Union, the multi-racial group of students, townspeople, and University faculty and staff picketed local businesses that refused to serve African Americans.
