Thousands of University students held a candlelight march to protest the invasion of Cambodia by the United States and the shooting deaths of Kent State University students by National Guardsmen. The procession started on campus, stopped in the Pit for a memorial service, descended upon Chancellor J. Carlyle Sitterson's residence, proceeded to President William C. Friday's house, and eventually ended on Franklin Street.
