The men's basketball team defeated Georgetown University for Coach Dean Smith's first NCAA championship. With 15 seconds left in the game, freshman Michael Jordan hit the winning 16-foot jumper to beat the Hoyas 63-62 in the New Orleans Superdome.Top |
