The University's men's basketball team won the NCAA Division I national championship by defeating the University of Illinois 75-70. The victory brought head coach Roy Williams his first national championship and the University its fifth.Top |

Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. was on campus to deliver the Robert and Helen Siler Distinguished Lecture. Kennedy’s talk, which was titled “A Contract With Our Future,” was also a part of UNC’s Earth Day observance.Top |
