University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

1850
Two faculty members were attacked on campus when they tried to subdue a group of eight to ten drunk, boisterous students. Hiding in a dormitory, the professors were safe until one of the taller students started to climb in through the window. The professors fought back, assaulting the intruder with a chair. A student named J. J. Slade was finally able to calm the rowdy crowd, and the two professors left campus safely. The student who attempted to climb into the window was expelled from school.Top |
