University benefactor John Sprunt Hill was born near Faison, North Carolina. He graduated from the University in 1889, and throughout his life he donated large portions of his time and resources to it. Hill built the Carolina Inn in 1924 and donated it to the University in 1935, stipulating that portions of the profit go to support the library's North Carolina Collection.Top |
