| North Carolina Collection materials can be requested in the 2nd floor reading room of Wilson Special Collections Library. Wilson Library is open to all researchers, regardless of affiliation. The library hours are weekdays 9:00-5:00, Saturdays, 9:00-1:00, and Sundays 1:00-5:00. Please see the page on "Access to the Collections" for more information about using the library. The North Carolina Collection is located in historic Wilson Library on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Tracing its origins to the founding of the North Carolina Historical Society in 1844, the North Carolina Collection has grown to become the largest collection of printed materials related to a single state. The NCC holdings are especially strong in printed materials relating to the history and culture of North Carolina, from the earliest accounts of explorers along the North American coast to present-day books and journals. There are extensive holdings of maps, newspapers, and photographs in the NCC and an unparalleled collection of North Carolina literary works. Reference staff members are always available in the reading room to assist with research, and are also available for consultation via email at wilsonlibrary@unc.edu and telephone at (919) 962-3765.
