America: History and Life
Summarizes scholarly articles about the history of the United States and Canada.

Business Source Premier
Scholarly articles and trade magazine articles covering all business topics. Includes industry profiles, market profiles, and the Harvard Business Review.

ABI / Inform Global
Articles in business, finance, management, accounting, advertising, banking, insurance, marketing, public administration, real estate, and telecommunications. 1991-current (fulltext); 1971-current (index & abstracts).

Web Search & Findability

ACM Digital Library
Provides access to all Association for Computing Machinery publications, including journals, transactions, proceedings, and newsletters. all ACM publications; dates vary. Search interface is difficult.

Try these resources (listed to the right) as well:

• Academic Search Premier
• Google Scholar Advanced Search: Type ACM in the publication field along with your topic. This will limit your results to articles in ACM publications. Use "Find article @ UNC" to get the full-text.

• Many libraries own a product called the Los Angeles Times Historic, which is full coverage from the Times from 1881-1985. Check WorldCat.org or your local library to see if you have access to this terrific resource. (We don't have it at UNC).
• The Los Angeles Times is available in microfilm at Davis Library -- not ideal for distance students, but they have it from 1935-present, under call number Serial 1-361. Microfilm may also be available at a library near you.
• Finding local libraries:
  • Search for a nearby public library at publiclibraries.com
  • Contact a local college or university library; they may permit you to use their resources on their campus.

Scholarly journal articles and popular magazines covering all topics, including the four class projects. A great database for beginning searches. 1980s-present.

Google Scholar
Scholarly articles, books, theses on a variety of topics through Google interface. Links to full-text in UNC Libraries where available. Also links to "Library Search" to find books. (scholarly info about Google Scholar @ UNC)
