Committees

Appointment and Promotion Committee for Associate Librarians and the Appointment and Promotion Committee for Librarians
These two elected committees for EPA staff are responsible for the review of librarians eligible for appointment and promotion and for making recommendations to the Director of the Library.

CALA Steering Committee
The Carolina Academic Library Associates (CALA) Steering Committee is to oversee the activities planned for those SILS students selected as Carolina Academic Library Associates. These activities include events for both the students and their supervisors. The CALA Steering Committee will schedule and host all social events and will coordinate and execute presentations/discussions for CALA educational events. The Steering Committee will also facilitate communications with CALAs and their supervisors.

Employee Appreciation and Recognition Committee (EARC)
This committee recognizes employees of the library. The EARC hosts receptions for retiring staff members, quarterly appreciation coffee breaks, and an annual staff recognition barbecue in the summer.

Parking Review Committee
The Parking Review Committee ensures that a written parking policy is on file and is available for convenient review by staff. The University Librarian will meet with the committee at least annually to determine whether changes are needed in the written policy, which determines parking assignments. The Director will also consult with the committee from time to time to determine whether changes in the Library policy are needed to ensure that it remains consistent with Transportation and Parking practices.

Public Art Committee
The Public Art Committee is charged with providing advice and counsel regarding the addition, location and installation of major art works in public spaces within the University Library; the possible decision or relocation of existing art; and other special projects, identified as need arises.

Salary Policy Review Committee
The members of this committee are elected every two years from the EPA staff and are responsible for the review of salary policies affecting EPA employees as administered by the library.

SPA Forum
The membership of the SPA Forum consists of eleven representatives from eleven library divisions and one Ex Officio member. The Forum presents SPA concerns to the Director of the Library and provides special perspectives and insights on SPA staff issues. All full-time SPA staff are eligible to serve.

Staff Development Committee (SDC)
The SDC plans the library's staff development program, which includes a range of formal and informal activities that address professional issues and prepare staff for changes in the work place.

More information on the Committees of the Main Library System can be found on the Library Administration Page.
