When can I chat with a librarian?
Monday - Friday 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. If we are not online to chat, please try the main Ask a Librarian service.

Who can use this service?
This service is intended primarily for UNC-Chapel Hill students, faculty, and staff, but questions about Planning research from other users are welcome.

What kinds of questions can I ask?
We will attempt to answer all of your questions. In order to answer your questions fully, you may be asked to email the librarian to schedule a research consultation.

Will I need to wait to chat with the librarian?
We have a small staff, therefore patrons in the Planning Library have priority over IM patrons. Chat questions are taken in a first-come-first-served order. Alternatively, you may always contact us over email or the phone, or visit the Planning Library in person for assistance.

How can I chat with the librarian?
Just type your question into the chat window to the right on this screen. Please keep this page open while you are chatting with a librarian.

The library may save the transcript of your chat session with the librarian, which will be used for educational and research purposes only. We will make every effort to protect your privacy. Any information you provide will remain confidential and only library staff will have access to your transcript.
