Photocopying/Scanning
There are no photocopiers available for public use in the New East building. Most materials from the Planning Library can be checked out for two hours, and may be taken to other locations on campus to make photocopies.
One of our public computers has a flatbed scanner attached for creating PDFs of items in the Library which do not circulate. Steps to use the scanner are posted at the machine, and our library staff will be happy to offer assistance.
Internet Access
The Planning Library is equipped for wireless internet access. Please see the ITS Help documentation for steps to connect to the campus wireless network. Ethernet cords are also available for check-out for up to three hours at a time.
The Library has two public computers available for use by our patrons:
- Scanner workstation: primary use for patrons wishing to create PDFs of library materials using the attached flatbed scanner
- GIS workstation: primary use for patrons working with spatial data from the campus network and other external sources using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software (for a list of software installed, please see the Davis Library's GIS Services workstations)
Each computer also contains a number of applications which may be used to conduct library and web-related research. Both can be used to access the library's digital media.
These computers may be used recreationally to check your e-mail or surf the web. However, in the event of heavy demand, patrons should limit their use to 30 minutes. Use of the computers will be given the following priorities:
- Patrons accessing the online catalog.
- Patrons requiring use of the machines for academic purposes.
- All other use.
