Some basic rules apply to searching most Article Databases, including the UNC-Chapel Hill Libraries Catalog:

• In searching for a known title, omit the initial article but retain all internal articles.
• Search for a specific author by typing the surname and then the first name(s) or initial(s). Note that some databases contain all of an author's given names, while others only index the first name or initial(s). Check the 'Help' section if you have trouble.
• A keyword search allows you to search descriptive terms in multiple fields, including the title, author, subject, and notes.
• An Advanced Search interface usually allows you to search for keywords in one or more specific fields and to impose additional restrictions on your search.
