NEDCC Offers Hints for Preserving Family Collections
A more general and concise set of suggestions for extending the life of personal materials of various types.
Conservation/Preservation Information for the General Public from Conservation Online (CoOL)
A comprehensive set of links to documents both specifically intended for personal collections and intended for institutions but useful to individuals. The site addresses a wide range of materials and scenarios and provides contact information for vendors and professionals in the field.
The Canadian Conservation Institute's Preserving My Heritage
An visually-rich site dedicated to the long-term care of everyday items, including books, paper documents, photographs, and sound recordings.


Preservation Resources for Libraries and Archives

Lyrasis
Lyrasis is a not-for-profit organization providing a wide range of services to member libraries. Preservation support includes a field service program, workshops for a range of skill levels, publications, and cooperative microfilming projects. This website has information about Lyrasis services as well as some full-text leaflets on a variety of preservation issues.
Conservation Online (CoOL)
Conservation Online is a clearinghouse for information on conservation and preservation administration. CoOL, maintained by Walter Henry at Stanford University, has full text articles, an archive of the Conservation DistList (a moderated listserv), and links to many preservation agencies and departments in libraries, archives, and museums.
Library of Congress Preservation Division
The Library of Congress maintains a Web site with information about their preservation program, public events, publications, and answers to Frequently Asked Questions about collections care, conservation treatment, and emergency preparedness and response.
