An excelent way to find information on your company is to use the online catalog to find booksFor a briefer history check the following resources.
International Directory of Company Histories:
Chicago: St. James Press.
Reference HD2721 .D473 Row 22
Currently 57 volumes. Last volume indexes entire
series.
Each 2-5 pages of historical profiles of the world's
largest companies.
The histories were compiled from publicly accessible
sources, as well as from material supplied by the companies
themselves. Entries on companies that have had major
changes since they were last profiled may be selected for
updating.
These histories are also available online in
Business and Company Resource Center but for defunct companies the
print must be used.
Notable Corporate Chronologies: Detroit: Gale
Group
Reference HG4009 .N68 Row 23
This 2 vol. set presents concise chronologies for
approximately 1,150 of the most significant
corporations currently operating in the U.S. and abroad.
Coverage focuses on those companies who have had a major
impact on the American or world economies, standard of
living and lifestyles.
These chronologies are also available online in
Business and Company Resource Center but for defunct companies
the print must be used.
Mergent Manuals
A set of business and financial global manuals covering
companies in over 80 countries. Data includes: company histories,
business, property, officers, directors...............
The library holds the microfiche of Moody's (Mergent) Manuals dating
back to 1905. This collection is in the
Microforms section of Davis Library (2nd floor).
