U.S. Consumer Price Index Resources
CPI is a measure of the average change over time in the prices paid by urban consumers for a market basket of consumer goods and services. The CPI provides a way for consumers to compare what the market basket of goods and services.

| Bureau of Labor Statistics | Provides access to the most recent monthly CPI data release, historical data containing the CPI from 1913? - present and information on calculation methods. The Monthly Labor Review also contains CPI information - look under "Current Labor Statistics. The Monthly Labor Review: Editor's Desk carries a wide range of economic news and information. |
| Economic Indicators | Part of the GPOAccess website. Prepared and published
monthly for the Joint Economic Committee, by the Council of Economic
Advisers. Data is available from 1998 to the previous month. Print
versions are also available at the following location:

| Statistical Abstract of the United States | Published at the end of each year. Look in the index for
"Consumer Price Indexes." The numbers given refer to tables, not
pages. Useful for historical data. Will not provide data for current
or previous year. The most recent print edition is also available at the
location below.

| CPI Detailed Report | This is the official and most comprehensive source of CPI
data. There is a 2-month delay before publication. (May data is
published in July, for example.)
