Investext Plus
(UNC only)
Also available through Business and Company Resource Center Investext Plus contains research/analyst reports on companies and industries as well as the annual statistical reports of many industry trade associations. It delivers full-text reports in their original published formats, complete with charts, photographs and graphics. It also gives users the same research and analysis used at top investment banks, consulting firms, and law firms to monitor industry trends, track company financials, and research merger and acquisition opportunities.
Morningstar Library Edition
(UNC only)
Morningstar contains reports on more than 8,000 stocks and 12,000 mutual funds, Analyst Reports on 1,000 stocks and 2,000 mutual funds and Morningstar ratings for stocks and funds. Morningstar contains both stock and fund screeners and a portfolio X-ray tool that helps you look for strengths and weaknesses in a portfolio. Morningstar.com Library Edition has an excellent Help and Education section, accessible from the black bar at the top of the page.
SiliconInvestor Detailed fundamentals on major companies, earnings, upgrades and downgrades, SEC filings, graphs and the latest news and market commentary, customize a portfolio.
Historical quotes - back to 1975 - that are downloadable into excel.
Thomson ONE Banker

Clicking on the "Search For Companies" link in the upper left hand corner provides quick access to company information by geographic area, analyst recommendation, index, sector, and investment style. Other options for searching include sorting companies by financial or stock/earnings criteria as well as searching for individual companies. Historic stock price information is available as well.
   
Online Portfolio Tracking Tools Description
MSN Money Allows users to track and chart portfolios. Links to current news items affecting individual companies are also provided. Registration required.
Yahoo! Finance Allows users to track and chart portfolios. Historical quote information, news, analyst recommendations, company research, and other features are available at this site as well. Registration is required.
Zacks.com Allows users to track and chart portfolios. E-mail updates alert users to factors that may affect stock price (i.e. recommendation changes, earning estimate revisions, etc.) Registration required.
   
Print Resources Description
ValueLine Convertibles Survey The Value Line Convertibles Survey provides a unique, systematic approach that defines and assesses the performance of convertibles, and ranks nearly 600 convertibles for potential risk and return, showing you which make the best buys, and which ones should probably be sold.

ValueLine Investment Survey Standard and Expanded editions are available at the Reference Desk and include reports and analysis on 3500 companies. Updated on a rotating basis so that everything is replaced quarterly. Contains a ten-year history of 23 statistical factors plus estimates 3 to 5 years into the future. Received with this service is a weekly "Summary & Index" which includes a ranking of timely stocks, best/worst performers, highest/lowest PEs. Also received is a weekly "Selection & Opinion" which gives views on business and financial outlooks.

ValueLine Special Situations Service Emphasis is on companies possessing the ability to generate exceptionally strong earnings growth during the coming three to five years, irrespective of economic conditions. Particular attention is paid to firms operating in high-growth, High-technology markets (the data communications, computer equipment and software, electronics, and health care industries are well represented). Most new recommendations are traded on the NASDAQ. Promising American Stock Exchange issues are recommended occasionally as well.
